Today I watched "Facebook Follies" from CBC television show "Doc Zone." The episode explained and gave many examples of mistakes people can make online. Some of the mistakes that the video pointed out were: accidentally sharing a post with everyone, posting threats or bashing people and posting indecent pictures. I strongly agree with the message of the episode; we need to think before we post!
Why don't people think before they post?
People are posting thinking that their profiles are private but, they aren't. When you post something on the internet, it is there forever. Even though you may have all your privacy settings on friends could screen cap anything you post and post it somewhere else. Some people don't even have privacy settings on, but think that they don't have enough friends for anyone important to see. That's not always the case. An example used in the video was when Cameron Reilly, a Scots Gaurdsman, posted hateful comments on Kate Middleton before the royal wedding. He was soon taken off wedding duty for the inappropriate behaviour. His actions and their consequences prove that people should be more aware of what they are posting.
Think before you post!
